Dear President Obama,

I, like many millions of Americans, voted for you in the last general election in the hope that your promise of change would be the change that we had longed for during the previous eight years.

Powerlessly, we watched our nation being run into the ground by a runaway despotic regime. We saw wars begun under false pretenses, which have cost millions of lives and trillions of dollars; we saw our natural resources being despoiled by greedy profiteers; we’ve seen our small businesses and small farms being destroyed by bureaucratic intrusions into every aspect of their lives and businesses, apparently for the enrichment of the big megabusiness cartels.

We’ve seen most of the jobs that gave America a healthy middle-class outsourced to nations where people will work twelve hours or more for a dollar or two a day, or for a cup or two of rice to feed their family.

Obama and the Denial of Genocide

Writer-activist David Boyajian’s investigative articles and commentaries have appeared in Armenian media outlets in the U.S., Europe, Middle East, and Armenia and the Newton Tab and USA Armenian Life newspapers named him among their “Top 10 Newsmakers of 2007.” So, when Barack Obama paid a visit to Turkey last month, it seemed like a good time to ask Boyajian for his take on the new president’s approach to the issue of the Armenian genocide. Scandals to the Left, Scandals to the Right

In January, I wrote an Austrian economic proof that the Obama stimulus plan would fail, I noted that one of the many symptoms would be inevitable, unstoppable corruption. Well, I suppose it’s no surprise to any American that corruption in our government is already widespread. And it’s pretty sad to see the mainstream media freak out over a case of the flu.

As fellow columnist Jonathan Cymberknopf writes in “Swine flu make for great ratings“, 36,000 died due to influenza in 2008, so there is no need for a mass freak out. (And yes, there is a possibility that it could become serious. A small possibility.) Continue reading →

What Really Happened in London

What was the reality behind all the smiles, thumbs up and hugs? Today, the world stands at a crucial crossroads in deciding how to deal with a severe debt-based recession that threatens a world depression. It therefore appears somewhat strange that the G-20 packed so much goodwill and agreement into such a short space of time. FULL ARTICLE

Obama and his Dick (Cheney)

Here’s how well they have us trained: The powers that be are no longer gonna call the illegally detained terrorism suspects (sic) by the name of “enemy combatants.”

Like the pre-programmed robots we’ve all become, we’ll celebrate this as a welcome and much-needed change from the reviled Bush-Cheney administration. A step in the right direction, we might even say. Continue reading →

To the Dustbin of History

What I want to see is the Republican Party shunned into the dustbin of history. And why shouldn’t they be? The have taken a very public stand that anything not Republican, i. e. anything Obama is bad. This is the height of stupidity. And it is troubling for the future of the United States.

The GOP says they are against the Stimulus plan because it has too much pork in it. Remember those Stimulus plans approved by the Republicans when Bush was still in? Up around $2 Trillion and nobody knows where it went? And Paulsen, who was appointed by Bush, says he ain’t telling.

It would appear that the Republicans are hoping the public forgets the Bush record over the last eight years. But I’m going to remind you of it right now. Continue reading →

New Boss, Worse Than the Old Boss?

After all the ghastly statism of the Bush years, you might think that the left would back off from using power to achieve its aims. Instead, they have learned nothing. The left has been lying in wait for its chance. As the Obama people entered the White House, it’s as if they found a closet labeled “failed ideas of the past.” They opened it and the contents spilled everywhere. They started grabbing things and putting them in the regulatory books and in legislation. FULL ARTICLE

The Presidential Transition Hoax

A lame duck President does nothing politically. This is the most productive thing that a President can do most of the time. The lame duck period is a great blessing. The President does not propose new programs. If he did, he could not get them passed.  FULL ARTICLE

Homeless in America

Standing on the edge of the grocery store parking lot, rain falling in drenching waves, she appeared undaunted by the conditions. I stopped and handed her a three bucks, her eyes held the look of a weary soul, a fellow human being caught up in calamitous circumstances. Ragged clothes, dirty hands, rain dripping from her chin yet a certain depth to her gaze; she nodded and said, “God Bless.”  FULL ARTICLE

Voluntary Government

The question arises: What is government? Government must be defined by some quality that it uniquely has that distinguishes it from other things that are not government. That quality has to do with principles or rules that govern action. But what rules and what actions? Governments vary greatly in the scope of actions they govern, in their methods of governing, and in their relations to the persons governed. FULL ARTICLE
