It is baffling that the American public has been so effectively stampeded into near-total dependence on a shoddy, crude and ineffective system of health care, paying an extremely high price for drug and surgical interventions.

Did you know that our health care system is the third leading cause of death in the United States?  In a year 2000 article in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Barbara Starfield, M.D., wrote that physician error, medication error, and adverse events from drugs or surgery cause 225,400 deaths per year, making this the third leading cause of death, after heart disease and cancer.  Why would anyone let themselves be put at the mercy of a hospital, when most chronic illnesses are preventable?  (Answer: Because they don’t know any better.) Imagine that one day in the not to distant future you answer a knock on your door and find that the Police are there to arrest you for a crime that you haven’t committed, but someone has identified you as having the potential to commit that crime some time in the future. I recalled this statement while I was reading a very powerful look at the My Lai massacre that took place during the Vietnam War. The depravity of humanity gone mad is revealed in this account and one would think that we would never again commit such atrocities. But the powers that be convinced us that we should put it behind us and move on. And now it seems we have repeated the depravity again in Iraq.

Is it true that our future is shaped by what and how we react to events and realities of the present? Have we gone even deeper into depravity since My Lai? And if that is true, what did we not do that would have kept us from drifting into an open acceptance of torture and unjustified bloodletting today? Recent News reports that Obama says those who actually did the physical torture of detainees cannot be tried for their crimes because they were “just following orders.” On the other hand, “those who ordered the torture cannot be tried as they only ordered it – They did not physically participate in the torture.” Therefore no one can be tried for torture. This is a perfect case of Circular Logic.

The Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee was organized in January 1999 to advocate and undertake litigation against illegal collusion to control the price and supply of gold and related financial securities.  GATA opposes collusion against a free market in gold, other precious metals, currencies, and related securities.  Their main theories center around demonstrating that governments, central banks, bullion banks, and even some major miners have colluded to suppress the price of gold.  By doing so, they make their own fiat currencies appear stronger. In early December, 2008 I drove to the home of Charlotte Dennett in rural Vermont to speak with her not only about her recent run for Attorney General of the State of Vermont, but also about Thy Will Be Done, a book she and her husband, Gerard Colby, had published in 1995-a book extremely relevant to the most recent, and in fact all, recent American presidential elections. I wanted to find out what motivated her to run for Attorney General of Vermont with the promise that if she were elected, she would appoint Vince Bugliosi, author of The Prosecution of George W. For those of you who missed it, former US Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney and CNN reporter Karl Penhaul were aboard a pleasure yacht attempting to deliver humanitarian supplies with the Free Gaza movement to the Gaza Strip, which is under siege by the Israeli “Defense” Forces. Regardless of what the reader may think about McKinney’s veracity, the evidence is pretty damning against the IDF this time. After shadowing the Dignity for a half hour, they rammed the boat three times without warning, almost sinking it in the process. The Israeli government claimed that the boat was first warned to not proceed, then claims the pleasure yacht took evasive action. CNN’s Penhaul, who was awake when the attack began, the ship’s captain and McKinney all deny these claims. American mini-dictator generals and crime bosses knew that their global war plans would require massive numbers of committed killers, a goal that a volunteer force could not fulfill. A conscripted army of unwilling, underpaid, over-committed soldiers, who might follow orders to commit genocide, would be unsatisfactory for the task, especially when the focus of the killing turns to their own homelands. No, the committed killers who have volunteered to be underpaid and overworked in order to gain the right to kill were too few in number, so they had to be supplemented.
