Why are U.S. media always referring to Iran’s “nuclear weapons program” when the question arises of what Israel has the right to do about it? From the reports of the UN inspectors, Iran has only a fledgling nuclear enrichment program directed toward creating nuclear power for its national use. Nothing more.
But the mass media usually refer to Iran’s program as aimed at creating a nuclear weapon. So it was reported on a Yahoo! News blurb the other day.
Last I read, Iran was a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. (Israel is not.) They are within their rights to develop nuclear power so they are not burning up precious unrenewable oil to fuel their energy needs.
Israel has 200+ nuclear bombs and the means to deliver them. Iran has none and even the Mossad estimated in a Reuters account today that Iran would not have bomb-making capability until 2014, nevertheless Netanyahu is rattling the sabres, saying that Iran must comply with UN sanctions by the end of this year.
It is true that Israel can and will do what they want. Biden said that the U.S. would not stand in the way of whatever action Israel sees fit to take.
The world is watching all this. They see Israel continuing to build settlements on Palestinian land, breaking their treaty agreements — and our country does nothing.
Now, Biden is saying Israel can do what it wants to Iran and we will do nothing, just keep paying $3 billion a year or so for the privilege of being dragged into an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East .
Will someone tell me again how Obama/Biden are better than Bush/Cheney? This is insanity — morally and militarily — if we, who are funding Israel, do nothing to rein in this pit bull of a nation.
If nothing else, we should have cut off our funding to Israel long ago and distanced our country from the self-righteous rogue nation, Israel.
Show us some guts, President Obama. No more pre-emptive wars on the U.S. account, please.

There is no difference. As long as there is war and a demand for updated weapons, this will go on. The Carlyle Group and others are making enormous profit at our expense. Every time we send a new group of our kids into Afghanistan/Pakistan/Iraq, they make a bundle more.
As I said on another blog the other day, "If we commit peace, they will have to make refrigerators. Guy buys a refrigerator, he keeps it for ten years. Where's the profit in that? Guy buys a thousand pound bomb, boom and he's gotta buy another. There is real profit! Until somebody kicks the moneylenders out of the temple, we aren't going to see much change, except for the worse."
Ever wonder how much of that three billion to Israel every year winds up in the pockets of the Carlyle Group, et al.?
I agree, Steve. War is a business for the honchos at Carlyle, the top brass in Israel and even for Hamas. If the conflict were to end, they'd all be looking to start another one.

From Source Watch
Since the end of World War II, corporations have emerged as the dominant force controlling the planet. Through the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Trade Organization, a mere 200 corporations have managed to seize control of 28.3% of the world's economic output. The fifty largest commercial banks and diversified financial companies assets amount to 60% of the $20 trillion global stock of productive capital.

The above notes the influence of the Corporate World on the everyday life of each American Citizen. I posted that because of the last couple of comments. But the article mentions that the media handling of the the Iran "Nuclear Threat". I have heard that so many times that the talking heads on TV haved gotten to where thery almost wont allow a word of dissent about whether there is a Nuclear Threat or not.
The two biggest threats to World Peace are the Israeli-U S Nation and the World Corporate Financial Consortium. The Carlyle Group is one of these
who promote conflict and wars to enhance their power and bottom line.
To paraphrase an old statement, "There will be no peace until there is a corporate CEO hanging from every lamp post."
"""say no to war.., say yes to human right…"""
Cliff: Thanks for your comments. I used to think I was a free market capitalist, but now there seems a need for a new form of capitalism that takes into account the good of all the world's citizens. And I'm not suggesting we need more government regulation of the biz community! We see how much good that did us.
From what I've seen of most American corporations, they are solely motivated by profits. And, if they can stack the deck in their favor by buying political influence, then they will.
What I think we need to do is to stop buying their products and buy from local purveyors. That is my plan. Grow my own food (it's tax-free) and in every other way stop generating taxable income for corporations and the State. Money is all they understand; our votes they disregard.
I don't drive, so they won't get much money out of me.
Yes Paul. When the Financial imbalance becomes too egregious, there is no longer free market capitalism. The freedom is shared only among the elites.
The rest of us have become slaves to the Financial and Corporate Dictatorship.
And it didn't have to be that way. If only we had stood up for ourselves, but instead we decided to let others stand up for us so we wouldn't have to risk our skin in the unavoidable fight to come.
