Now the war is flaring up in Pakistan. Hundreds of thousands of Pakistani families have fled the area, and the main town of Migora has been virtually emptied of its inhabitants. Reuters reported that, “Pakistani forces attacked Taliban fighters in the Swat Valley with artillery and helicopters after the United States called on the government to show its commitment to fighting militancy.” One has to wonder who is giving the orders in this foolish war, anyway? Moreover, does Obama genuinely think that the Pakistani “Taliban” can be defeated using the exact approach that failed against the Taliban of Afghanistan? FULL ARTICLE

This is what we get for voting for the lesser of two evils. More war, more death.
I find it pretty amazing that they call it af-pak now, like they’re pretending that they’re not actually starting another war against another country. Well, because they have some elected dictator they support, I suppose…
Ramzy is certainly on target here. The Afghans have had to suffer the role of battlefield between the Giant World powers the United States and Russia for thirty years now.
U S Oil Corporations covet the possibility of bringing oil down thru Afghanistan and Turkey into Israel. And what does the normal U S Citizen have to gain from all the killing and money thrown away in these war for the big Corporations?
Well if we are lucky we won’t have to be those who die for the profits of the Kleptocracy. We will however be expected to donate our every hard earned dollars to fatten their bottom lines.
Can anything be more immoral that killing innocents to make money? Is it worse to support these charlatans than to be them?
I think it is as least as ungodly.
But there are people who have really nothing to gain by supporting these people who nevertheless will fight tooth and nail to support their muderous ways. Witness people who choose their heroes then excuse them for all manner of depravity. They look for and will find any excuse to defend them. Seems the most used pathway is to blame “others”.
We have a two headed monster in Washington. And many people would like to keep it that way.
“What can one say? Another crew of vicious barbarians have invaded, with high tech weapons that will kill many instead of one.
“First was Alexander with his phalanx, upon which we died in our thousands, but eventually, Alexander decided he had had enough and he departed,
“Then came the British with their cannon and their rifles which killed many, both warriors and villagers. Finally they, too, were driven off, hating, but respecting, the “wily Pathan.”
“Then came the Russians with their tanks, their guns and their airships. We fought for years and many were our dead, but eventually they returned to their homes to lick their wounds.
“Now, the Americans and other Europeans come to occupy us, with their truly horrifying weapons that kill at random. Our women and children die in their houses, wedding parties are slaughtered into mourning.
“As long as there is an Afghan or a Pashtun left who can carry a rifle, we shall fight these invaders until they, too, are driven back across the sea from whence they came.”
That is what, I believe, a Pashtun or Afghan elder would say to us, had we the wisdom to ask instead of kill.
I think it’s just disgusting what’s happened to those people in Afghanistan over the years – good to see some truth here in this article, and in the comments too. I guess as long as a country is poor but has riches in resources, they’re always going to be under threat of attack from the US of A.
