While I would've said much of the same about the shadow government a few decades ago, I think they've come out of the shadows since then and are the regular, what you see is what you get, government - printing up a bunch of money for themselves and for their corporate buddies.

They're a gang of thugs and thieves.

good article, learned a few things as well. What many of us forget is that the 5 billion dollars spent by the banking industry& wall street firms who had lobbiests all over the hallowed halls of both houses of congress, add in that those who were crying foul & wolf...were ignored. So is it any wonder why things like the S&L ,Enron collapse and now the fiscal mess the housing & mortgage
derivative markets is it any wonder why the house of cards didn't collapse sooner ? So much for free market self regulation huh ?

This is a good and informative article. I agree with much of it but I have to argue that the real culprit in this economic mess is not the Government , but corrupt elements within the Government.

Our Government was set up to have checks and balances. And there is nothing wrong with differences of opinion. Where the problem comes is when those corrupt elements have the power to force their disobedience of the Rule of Law. The Constitution, into acceptance by the public.

This is usually done thru fear. What the corrupt Government does is sell protection to the public for a fee , that they can't refuse - or else. It is a form of dictatorship.

I call it the Shadow Government. Those that really run this country. Notice how Obama changed when he got in? I saw the same change in George Bush when he got in.

Both seem to me to be pawns of the SG.

The only thing this "stimulus" has been stimulating has been the price of gold - which has had some really high peaks, and I'm sure has a much higher ceiling in the near future.
