The populist impulse within us all, overwritten as it is by false programming, remains quite strong and when repressed turns ugly. The repression of true popular sovereignty can lead to neurotic displacements like genocidal aggression and torture, compulsive secrecy and national security states, preemptive wars, fascism and state terror, rape, child abuse, domestic violence, cancer, hemorrhoids, the heartbreak of psoriasis and other forms of national and personal psychopathology we can plainly see today when we look in the mirror. yes there is a way to fix the system…but we as “individuals”, whose prize our “indvidual freedoms ” are like horses with blinders on. We don’t want to see or know what is going on around us. Unless of course it is me who loses his job, or my wife along with me loses our jobs and all the fall out & turmoil the surely will come. sadly we have fallen for a great madison Avenue lie…we of the boomer generation and now , generation X has fallen for the Burger King way of life & living lie…as in we can have it our way right away, instant credit and instant gradification.See where it got us ? The new adminstration has said it was for change, the only change this Lou Dobbs Independent (oh so new ) Populist has seen was the name plates on the white house door and in some but not all the doors of the offices of both the House and Senate. The only way there will be any kind of real and true change in Washington,DC if for we the people to rise up…and see that each and everyone of those in the Both houses who have been in there for more than 10 years needs to go…and replaced with new and fresh blood…but sadly we as a nation will not and refuse to do it…wh??? We are too busy, living and trying like heck to keep on living a lie…because we as “individuals” don’t have time for anything that is outside of ” MY” comfort zone…so much for Me,Myself &and I huh ?
Steve you are my kind of person. Yes it can be fixed. And I thought my history books told me that our founding fathers formed a Republic, not a Democracy.
As to the monetary system, it too can be fixed. What is needed is a re-balancing. Pareto and his 80/20 was a “natural” division of wealth. But in the world today the balance is nearer , 97/3.
Pareto made another statement, but it didn’t become famous like the 80/20. He said that if the balance accrued to the elite few , the those elite few would set the rules and the only changes that one would see were changes among the elite.
Who said Nostrademus could predict. What Pareto said has come tru and we are living proof. The only change is among the elites.
But we can take it all back. We have to quit whining and do something. Something that will send a message. I’ve been calling for the end of the Republican Party not only for change but as a threat to the Democratic party. No one can stop those who are like minded, except those who are afraid to take a chance.
All we have to do is never again vote for a Republican Candidate. And while doing so we need to be busy forming a viable third Party. Yes it could be the Populist Party. But I’m pretty sure it won’t . We don’t need any ONE Independent Party we need a Coalition of Independents. The are more people who subscribe to the 135 Independent parties than there are Republicans and Democrats combined.
No one can force me to ever vote for a Republican Candidate again. And no one can force you either.
A rebalancing of the monetary system is right. We can start with one simple thing.
Take away the printing press. They use it to inflate the money supply and give it to the politically-connected. They buy up a bunch of stuff with all this new money, and by the time it gets spent around and “trickles down” to the regular people, it’s loses big chunks of its value.
The short of it – they give money to their buddies, and in the end, that same money is worth less and less to us. This is robbery, plain and simple.
