President Obama is under the impression that history owes him $1 trillion right now to spend on whatever he wants. His language is strident and full of irritation that anyone would question his right to live out his personal dream of being Franklin Roosevelt to George Bush’s Hoover. This, he says, is what the election was all about. The arrogance reminds me of George Bush after 9-11, who similarly believed that history owed him a gargantuan war in the tradition of FDR. And look how that arrogance led to disgrace and loss, as he unwittingly presided over the destruction of American prosperity while searching for bugbears abroad. FULL ARTICLE

i agree with the author. As who is this new president ? he sounds more like the old one ! using the office of president as a bully pulpit, fear mongering. And after trying to read what the house passed and waiting to see what the final draft of the senate’s version will be, what monies (if any)0f that will be doled out will have little effect on job creation now, and not 1-2 years down the road. As many of us know or understand, small business creates a vast majority of the jobs america has, NOT big business. Yet neither version of the “stimulus” package being rammed down & up america’s throat & “blessed assurace” has very little if any funds to “stimulate” the likes of the SBA. And what rubs me wrong in a worse way,is how the US Chamber of Commerce wants the buy American provisions taken out and done away with. And for this to continue on as it has been and is going to continue on is “for good men (people) to do nothing”…and we,the people seem really good at doing that huh ?
Steve, fear is how rulers have always pushed populations. Fear that terrorists are going to kill you, so we need more wars and more military, fear that there’s bad guys everywhere so we need to spy on everything you read and email, fear that you won’t have food so we need to spend another trillion that we don’t have, fear if we don’t borrow and spend more we’ll go to hell….fear, fear, fear..
