No doubt about it that Ron Paul hit a bullseye with this one (as usual!) My impression is that congress doesn't do the will of the people no matter what happens. Maybe a complete economic crash is just what we need, it'll lay waste to the federal government and we can start from scratch!

Rep. Paul has hit a bullseye. And America missed a golden chance to tell the congress and senate to do the will of the people, when they were all there for the ignaguration. image the look on the faces all the members of Congress would have had when they didn't have their deep pocketed lobbists there to protect them. What a wasted chance it was. Here, they went to see history being made, when they could have made history. Does anyone got a better idea than the old one man, one vote idea that could have topped the millions of people who were there and blew it ? America is dying to know, so please don't hold back.

The problem is definitely big, it's definitely complicated. And there's plenty of blame to go around like Manfred has said. While I blame government policies for creating this whole mess, I also realize that just because the federal reserve was dumb enough to lower interest rates again and again that regular people who ran up massive debt also contributed to the problems.

What is important, of course, is to understand the causes, so we don't make things worse. Too much spending, too much debt and too much inflation.

Problem is, most everything coming from washington d.c. - and the media - calls for more spending, more debt, and more inflation.

this is going to get much, much worse.

I was only stating a personal rant. The problem at hand is much more complicated than merely one issue. Its Politicians, Its you, its me, its everyone that has been irresponsible. Teddy is a bit off base, but thas ok, this is a very complicate issue. I don't like to blame as there is no one thing to do so, I was only stating one frivilous avenue that was my personal gripe.

Teddy, this is the mantra these days. Whenever there's a problem, blame people, blame business, blame freedom.

Never, ever, ever, blame the politicians. And don't even think about blaming the federal reserve.

Manfred, are you saying that the only reason or the #1 reason for the economic collapse that's coming is that too many people were house flipping?

What was the cause of all this errant house flipping, just bad choices, or was there something behind it all that encouraged the bad behavior?

Also, are you saying that the solution would be to lower interest rates and "cap" or prevent rental rates from rising?

Could you explain that a little further?

House Flipping. Those who decided they could make a huge profit in a few months.
Its already been stated that the economy began falling due to mortgage costs.
It would be a wonderful thing if mortgage interest lowered and there was a cap on rentals.

We don't need to spend, borrow, and inflate more. We need to save, to produce things, to sell, to be more financially responsible. Both in and out of government.
