As things now stand, Afghans, as well as Afghan-Americans who go back to help their homeland, have to play by American rules. Recently an Afghan-American contractor who competed for reconstruction contracts told me that the American military is getting in on the aid scam. To apply for a contract, Afghan applicants now have to fill out a form (in English!) that may run to 50 pages. My informant, who asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons, commented that it’s next to impossible to figure out “what they look for.” He won a contract only when he took a hint and hired an American “expert” — a retired military officer — to fill out the form. The expert claimed the “standard fee” for his service: 25% of the value of the contract. FULL ARTICLE

But, they’re the terrorists! We got(s) to get em!
Here we go. Another surge.
Gee imagine if we here in america could have a trickle up program and give away like the government does in Irag 7 Afganistan , just think of how “stimulated” our economy would be ? especailly after having a 175 million dollar historical inaguration party just image how many schools and clinics we could build ? But I’m a Lou Dobbs type of Indendent Populist, what would i know ? Good article by the way ! Thanks.
You know what would even be better than that Steve? If we just abolished the income tax, the federal reserve, for starters…and the politicians would sure have a hard time funding all their grand programs and wars! Then we could keep our own money and spend it or save it as we see best for our own lives – and in our own communities.
Leaving to the politicians sure hasn’t worked so far.
Hey Michael, i have to agree with ya on that one…very very good. Now if we can only get 5 thousand people from each state to go to washington block off the capital until we can get them to pass a “amendment” so we the people could do that…oh…don’t forget to bring an extra air canister…as we shouldn’t hold our breath should we ? Thanks again…you hit a bulls eye sir…
Here’s what Lysander Spooner had to say about a government of the people:
“Our constitutions purport to be established by ‘the people,’ and, in theory, ‘all the people’ consent to such government as the constitutions authorize. But this consent of ‘the people’ exists only in theory. It has no existence in fact. Government is in reality established by the few; and these few assume the consent of all the rest, without any such consent being actually given.”
