With the meltdown of the American economy, what better time to ask: Can libertarianism come to the rescue? Perhaps the most interesting statement in the Wikipedia discussion of libertarianism is that “There is no single theory that can be reliably identified as the libertarian theory, and no single principle or set of principles on which all libertarians would agree.” FULL ARTICLE

yes sir there could be some things from the Libertarian trains of thought and practice that could and would help America, but sadly in the real world, until we as Citizens and Voters here in America get the House & Senate in order…nothing will ever change…unless each and every House and Senate seat is filled with “independet ” people who do see and understand the libertaian, the populist, ( or any other party for that matter) who has no Vested Intrest ,as in LOBBIESTS, say one, to make America what it needs to be and should have been…but we know that won’t happen in our lifetimes will it ?
Hey Joel – great article. When I talk about this stuff with my friends, it makes lots of sense to them. I don’t know if it is that “nobody is listening”, I think it is “nobody is telling”. I can only tell so many!
The media is dominated by the intreched interests. The popular news outlets do not cover these stories. They must have some entreched interest in not doing so. We need either a powerful Libertarian-biased news outlet to educate the general public, to counteract the powerful Rep-Dem slanted news organizations, or we are going to be doomed to a select group of intellectuals (like us) who tirelessly seek out the truth. It takes a lot of effort to seek the truth, and little to no effort to be spoon-fed biased garbage. For now, hold your head up high. We aren’t dead yet….
But freedom and liberty is bad, right? We need the politicians to protect us – from food, from travel, from bad guys, from gold, from free speech, from – everything, don’t we?
Hey Allen, In a ” politcally correct” nation…you are correct, right…and on the money !!! sad thing, one has to wonder just how far is America from being totally “secularized & politically correct” . Have a great day.
Media is definitely an important mechanism, as you’ve said, Steve. But, we have to have some perspective. 30 years ago, without the internet. 10 years ago even. A far greater percent of people would be completely in the dark – including me – as to the crimes of this government. The internet makes it possible to shed some light. Everytime I hear news about a media giant getting in financial trouble like the LA and the NY times, I cheer! I think it’ll be only a matter of time before many more of them fall, and many more independents on the web keep rising.
