Chalmers Johnson: Oil, Blowback, and War

Wondered why the Middle East hates us? From the 2005 documentary, “Why We Fight,” Chalmers Johnson talks about the United States’ involvement in the Middle East over the years and the blowback that has resulted from the US’ actions.

Many are completely unaware of the United State’s involvement overseas in the past; however, the US has a long history of being deeply involved in Middle Eastern affairs.

Excellent Michael.  Its called greed.  For too long our people have listened to the Propagandist telling us that there is a threat to our freedom from someone or some country standing in the way of a profitable venture  dreamed up by greedy opportunist.

They identify a target, such as Iran in the early 50’s, because they are a threat – no, its because some Corporation or Political faction lust for something the target has – in Iran’s instance, their oil.  And speak of domino effect, it started  there.

We are warned of a threat from the target, those who lust for what belongs to the target, begin to demonize those people, then they foment problems, and finally our military or Government “has” to get involved to protect our interests, our freedoms, or whatever will mislead the gullible people.

And the next Domino falls.

You’ve got that right, Cliff. And this is what blowback is all about. The American public rarely even realizes that the CIA, or the Pentagon has created these situations, but they’re just about everywhere.

If you haven’t seen the entire film that this clip was taken from, it’s really a good one – Why We Fight
