A foundation principle of American justice is supposed to be “equal justice under the law.” Yet here we have a federal judge awarding $65 million to the crew of the spy ship Pueblo, in large part because of allegations regarding the conditions of their confinement as POWs in North Korea, while other judges in the same court system have ruled that a man falsely captured and sent off to be tortured by a foreign dictatorship’s secret service has no right to even bring his case and that another cannot has no right to sue to get a mattress to sleep on or a blanket to keep himself warm! Inequality in “Justice” is rampant in American society. Politicians get away with murder…sometimes literally….where private citizens would have the book thrown at them.
I wonder what our new king of “change” is going to do about this. I don’t expect much
Tracey, you made a very good point, possibly by accident. But, note the word “king” and I think you’ll have your answer as to how much change to expect. Let’s see, more wars, more economic chaos, more corporatism, more centralized control over more and more of our lives. And………more.
I wonder if the ACLU would want to take on say the Department of Indian Affairs for all the abuse,mis-management of what funds from mineral,gas , oil rights on Native American land. Oh i forgot, if we did that…no one here could ever get another income tax refund, social security or VA or widows benifit check, as it all would have to go to what we have never paid them…sadly the BIA hasn’t even got a clue of just how much the US Government actually owes them? Now that is a crime…if you are a red person living in a politically correct america…you still don’t matter…right ?
